San José State University is authorized and certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SHCEV) (8VAC40-31-30(A)(i)). This authorization is subject to periodic review.

Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to the receiving college, university, or other educational institution and is at the sole discretion of the receiving institution. Students are advised to contact the receiving institution in advance for evaluation and determination of transferability of credits and/or acceptability of degrees, diplomas, or certificates earned.

Students residing outside of California (while attending San Jose State University’s (SJSU) distance education program) wishing to resolve a grievance should contact the appropriate office (e.g. Bursar’s Office, Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, etc). If issues persist, please follow the CSU Internal Complaint Process. The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia has the authority to investigate student complaints against specific schools.
